Lets play with the kids by making Apple Sauce Ornaments:
Preheated oven 200*
1 cup Apple Sauce
1 Cup Cinnamon
1 Tbsp glue
mix all items in a large bowl until it forms something like a cookie dough. (at this point I have the kids start to pick their favorite cookie cutters to use). Take a piece of wax paper and sprinkle Cinnamon on it and your rolling pin. (Trust me this needs to be done!) Use the Cinnamon like you would for flour and roll out dough. It should be about 1/4-1/8 inch thick. Once rolled out, use your favorite cookie cutters to shape them, or make your own. Place on a regular cookie sheet. The next step is extremely important, use a straw or knife and punch a hole in each, (if you do this when they dry it will break the ornament.) Put in a preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes, then pull the ornament out and flip them onto the other side. Bake for another 30 minutes. Pull ornaments out and let them cool, and make sure they are dried out. The allow your kids to decorate with glitter, puffy paints, or simply leave them be and hang from the tree or give as a gift. The smell if amazing, and the fun times with the kids is the best!
To make about 2 fifths...
1 Quart water
2 1/2 cups of Sugar
3 Tbsp instant Coffee
1 Tbsp Vanilla
2 1/2 cup Vodka
Boil water, coffee and sugar in a Large sauce pan.
Simmer for about 2-3 hrs (depending on how your stove
works) it should be about a thick syrup. Stir periodically to avoid a boil over.
(this is the tricky part because it will foam up and out of your pot, so watch
it until you get the right temp)
Pull off burner, and let cool
for about 10-15 minutes (until its warm, but not cold)
add Vanilla and Vodka.
Bottle in your favorite bottle, and cap tightly.
And last but not least, one of my kids favorites, but us adults love it as well, and even made its way into one of my
1 bag of Chocolate chips
1 small jar of peanut butter (we prefer smooth,
but can use chunky)
1 small bag of mini marshmallows
Use a 9x13 and spray with cooking spray and set aside.
In a large pot add chocolate chips and peanut butter until it is all creamy and melted together. Remove from heat. Stir in marshmallows and pour into prepared pan. Put in fridge for about 3 hrs. Remove pan and use a knife that has been dipped in hot water and cut into chocolate. Cut into square shapes and put in plate before putting back and the fridge or eat!
I hope you all enjoy these little treats from the Meadows'
house and my all your days be filled with love and laughter..
